Kees Scherer M42 HDR

The Great Nebula in Orion and the Running Man, by Kees Scherer

This beautiful HDR (multi-exposure-length combination) version of the Orion nebula, Messier 42, and the Running Man nebula shows the beautiful colors of the hot, star-forming gases in M42, the reflection from the nearby stars on the Running Man, and the darker nebulous dust and gas surrounding the area.

M42 is one of the visually brightest nebulae in the night sky, located in the constellation Orion.
