Learn how to create a Bad Pixel Map (BPM) in Astro Pixel Processor (APP) software.
This is the third in a series of tutorial videos on how to get the best out of the new APP software. You can download and try out Astro Pixel Processor from their website. See the first in the series here (An Introduction to APP) here and the second in the series (creating calibration frames) here!
This tutorial video looks at how to easily create a Bad Pixel Map (BPM) in APP. The benefits of a BPM are considerable and work well to remove hot and cold pixels, and so in many cases will negate the need for a darks library for hot pixels. The BPM can also be used to remove bad column defects.
What you will need
- 5 dark frames
- 5 flat frames
Once you have used these to create the BPM then you won’t need them again. Using a bad pixel map is a sure-fire way to improve your data.
