Alvaro Perez NGC7497NGC7497 + MBM 54, by Álvaro Ibáñez Pérez

The ~60-million light year distant spiral galaxy NGC7497 lies behind the diffuse molecular cloud in our own Milky Way galaxy, known as MBM 54. The nearby starlight dimly reflects off this material in our galaxy to create the beautiful and “ghostly” shapes seen here, and captured by Spanish astrophotographer Álvaro Ibáñez Pérez.
